The Wiz Live! Aced Both Its Performances and Its Ratings! Let’s Watch Uzo Aduba Sing “Believe in Yourself”

Recommended Videos

Last night, NBC’s live production of The Wiz beat out the ratings of NBC’s previous live musical, Peter Pan — which should come as no surprise to anybody who watched Peter Pan (or, uh, tried to watch it). According to TV Line, The Wiz provided NBC with its best Thursday ratings in the past two years.

Unlike previous NBC musicals like The Sound of Music and Peter Pan, which were more of a “so bad it’s good” experience, The Wiz was a genuine delight — and inspiring to boot. If you missed out on the live showing, it’ll be available on DVD after December 22nd. Until then, we’ll all have to settle for brief snippets, like the one above of Uzo Abuba’s performance as Glinda, recorded off a TV screen by an enterprising fan.

Did you watch The Wiz last night? Did you see all of the amazing live-tweets, and perhaps send a few yourself? What was your favorite part?
