Things We Saw Today: Ronda Rousey Apologizes for Photoshopped Image

I have to make an apology to everyone – I was sent a picture to share on social for Fallon that was altered without me knowing to make my arms look smaller. I won’t say by who – I know it was done with severely misplaced positive intentions – but this goes against everything I believe and I am extremely proud of every inch of my body. And I can assure you all it will never happen again. I could not be more appalled and hope you all forgive me🙏🏼

Ronda Rousey talks a lot about body positivity and revels in the fact that she doesn’t have a “typical” body type. So, when fans saw a recent promotional image of her from an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where her arms looked suspiciously small, they mentioned it. She explained and apologized for the image on her Instagram. (via Factually)

• Bill Cosby is suing alleged sexual assault victim Andrea Constand for talking to cops about her assault. Because he’s classy that way. (via Jezebel)

• The Metropolitan Opera is about to stage its first opera by a woman since 1903! Um…IT’S ABOUT TIME. (via The New York Times)

        Wanna know which films have won Best VFX at the Oscars? Let this handy-dandy video from Burger Fiction show them all to you. And note:

For the 1927/28 Academy awards, the award was for engineering effects. There was no award again until 1938 where it was called a special award “for outstanding achievement in creating special photographic and sound effects. The very next year the award was combined with sound effects and called the Award for Special Effects. It wasn’t until 1963 that the award became the Award for Best Visual Effects (which it is still called today). It was given every year from 1963 to present, with the exception of 1973. • Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Abby Lee has just been cast as the female lead in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. She will be playing a character named Tirana, which doesn’t exist in King’s original story. This should be interesting… (via Uproxx)
