Things We Saw Today: Kelly Marie Tran & Evan Rachel Wood Play #MeToo Guess Who, the Least Fun Game Ever
In a new video for Funny or Die, Evan Rachel Wood and Kelly Marie Tran (plus Tony award nominee/Selfie alum Da’Vine Joy Randolph) introduce us to a new game, Guess Who: #MeToo Edition. It’s just like the original (with which I was obsessed as a child for reasons I still don’t understand), except instead of guessing your opponent’s character based on physical characteristics like glasses or facial hair, you ask into the details of their alleged perpetrated sexual misconduct.
Is it Bill O’Reilly? Louis C.K.? Casey Affleck? The stories of gross men abusing power are all so reminiscent of one another, it can be hard to tell.
While hilarious and infuriating, the women make sure to end the video by recommending you support RISE, the group Wood joined in providing testimony to Congress this week, fighting for legislation that would bolster rights of assault survivors.
- The Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj is getting his own weekly talk show. He’s the first Indian-American host to do so. Apparently, he produced his own pilot for the show, which sparked a major bidding war, with Netflix winning out in the end. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
- In “Things We Could Have Told Them Already” news, doctors have finally declared that menstrual cramps can be as painful as a heart attack. Well, technically, they say “almost as bad,” but maybe now we can be done with the blanket “Take two Advil and you’ll be fine” advice? (via Elle)
- Kristen Wiig is in talks to play Cheetah in the Wonder Woman sequel and honestly, we’re not sure how we feel about this casting. For starters, does Wonder Woman really need more white leads? Diversify, casting directors, diversify! (via Newsweek)
- Production designer Hannah Beachler has shared some of her favorite behind-the-scenes pictures of her work on Black Panther and it’s all gorgeous. (via THR)
- April Reign, the creator of the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag and movement, is launching a new site that serves as a central directory for connecting studios with POC talent. So no one can ever say “but I don’t know any ____” again, and use that as an excuse for a monochromatic work environment. It’s called Akuarel and it goes live tomorrow. (via Twitter)
