Thor: Ragnarok Gets the ’80s Trailer It So Richly Deserves

Recommended Videos

Thor: Ragnarok is delightfully, unabashedly ’80s-inspired, but no one is going to actually confuse it for a movie made during out childhoods—at least, they weren’t until Nerdist just got through with it. They’ve taken the footage from the movie that we’ve seen so far and made it look like a preview you fast-forwarded through a few too many times on an old VHS tape of Labyrinth.

Or maybe it’s you’re more familiar with the distortion of hastily taping your favorite movies off the TV, over your parents’ favorite football game recording. I don’t know your deal. Anyway, they even went the extra mile and used some footage from the actual 1988 movie in which Thor and the Hulk faced off, The Incredible Hulk Returns. In fact, going back and watching that after seeing this trailer, I can’t help but feel like similarities between that scene and what we’ve seen in actual Ragnarok trailers—and sorry if I’m late to the party here—are not coincidental.
