Thinking and Praying Just as Effective as in Real Life in Thoughts and Prayers: The Game

Recommended Videos

Thoughts and Prayers: The Game has been around for a while, but sadly has only become more true over time.

The game, which you can play here, has two available actions for the player: press P for “Pray” and T for “Think” as you watch mass shootings happen across the United States. Weirdly enough, neither of them will save any lives. In fact, it’s the same result as if you don’t press anything at all.

It seems like an obvious point, but one that lawmakers offering thoughts and prayers while accepting significant amounts from the National Rifle Association seem to be missing. You do see “Ban Assault Weapon Sales” show up in the middle of the game, but unfortunately you can’t choose it. You don’t have the votes, you see. All you can do is think or pray harder. The game started circulating again after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida where seventeen people were killed. It was the 18th shooting of the year. The responses were upsettingly predictable and heartbreaking.
