Three Up For The Role of Cinderella, Will Disney Reunite Hanna’s Saoirse Ronan & Cate Blanchett?

Recommended Videos

Earlier this week we learned the always amazing Cate Blanchett might being playing the evil stepmother in Disney’s Cinderella, aka Disney’s Untitled Cinderella Story. Today we find out three actresses who might have to run away from her crying and one of them is the star of Hanna

This is not to be confused with the Cinderella film Universal is also currently working on. Classic fairy tales and other classic stories are a hot commodity these days.

Saoirse RonanGabriella Wilde, and Alicia Vikander are the three young women up for the role of Cinderella according to Variety and are set to screen test for director Mark Romanek.

Of the three, I’m only familiar with Ronan’s work. It’s probably anyone’s game at the moment but she does have the advantage of being the best known of the three plus, she’ll gain more popularity once the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host is released. She and Blanchett have already shared the screen as glorious nemeses in Hanna.

The script is being penned by writer/director Chris Weitz (The Golden CompassAbout a BoyTwilight: New Moon) and has been in the works since the success of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Still no word which direction they’re actually going to take Cinderella but it is set for live-action.
