You’ve probably seen Elyse Myers on your FYP on TikTok. The comedian gained notoriety when she shared a video about the worst date she’d ever been on, which included a lot of Taco Bell and people begging her to continue talking about the adventure of this date.

But she’s since gone on to promote mental wellbeing and compassion, along with using the platform she’s gotten from her failed Taco Bell date to share stories and exciting things with her fans on the app. And talking with Elyse Myers, it’s clear that she never thought she’d have a platform like she does now, but she isn’t going to let it slip by without doing something good with it.

Like much viral fame, the growth of Myers’ account has happened throughout just a few months, and she’s gained recognition all over the place. She shared with me that she went to a Spurs game recently and was met with fans wanting pictures and a level of fame she never expected, and the woman who is known as the down to Earth TikTok comedian is just as easy and fun to talk to as you’d expect.

I talked with Myers a bit about her platform and how it feels to suddenly have all these eyes on her. “It’s kind of an overwhelming, because I didn’t really initially intend on all of this kind of happening,” she shared. “I didn’t intend on all of these eyeballs to be on me. I was a web developer and had a family and this was kind of not my world. And so now to be in it, it’s so bizarre, but it’s so cool the way that people can kind of connect with me and to my stories and see themselves in my stories. I think that’s kinda where the power comes from is I feel really comfortable sharing all of this stuff because I’m like, I know every single person that sees this, at least the people that are kind of my community and people that love watching my stories, they’ll just see themselves in that in that story. And that just makes me really happy. So it’s been cool, overwhelming, but really cool.”

What’s so fascinating about Elyse Myers is that she’s using her platform to share stories and be honest about things from Imposter Syndrome to ADHD, body image, and more because she doesn’t have an overall agenda. She just wants to bring value and joy to the lives of those who see her content on TikTok.

So, when she’s talking about future projects, she just wants to keep that “brand” going. “I think so above anything else, like in the details of what projects, my main goal in all of this is just add value to people’s life,” she said. “And so whatever opportunity that’s presented to me, I’m just filtering it through that lens. And it doesn’t have to be as deep as giving to a charity, even though I love doing that kind of stuff. Like sometimes it can be as simple as making somebody laugh, making somebody feel welcome and at home in their skin.”

You can follow Myers on TikTok and on Instagram, and I highly recommend doing so for the bit of serotonin her content brings!
