If the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Wore Sneakers, They’d Look Like This

Recommended Videos

With two big toes, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles must have a tough time finding shoes that fit. But they’re teenagers, so it’s fair to assume that they’d love to wear a cool pair of sneakers, right? Hussain Almossawi and Quintin Williams have come up with a sneaker design that could fit on a hypothetical TMNT foot — or, at the very least, these could work for some excellent TMNT cosplay.

From the side, it just looks like a normal sneaker — albeit with several TMNT-inspired visual elements.

For example, the sash around the ankle evokes the wrappings that have appeared in most TMNT costume designs over the decades. The hexagonal detailing is also turtle-inspired, as the designers explain in the description on their Behance project page: “The patterns of the shoe are also inspired by the hexagons from turtle shells, with small holes for ventilation to allow for better breathability. The interesting thing is that turtles actually absorb oxygen through their skin, and we try to mimic the concept here.”

Sadly, this is just an art project for the two designers, so it’s not a real sneaker that you can purchase. Unless some sneaker company finds their portfolio and decides to hire the duo to craft some cool sneakers — and why wouldn’t they??
