Exclusive: Fillory Isn’t Everything It’s Cracked Up to Be in This Video for The Magicians Season 2

Recommended Videos

If you’re caught up on all of the first season of The Magicians, then you know that when we last saw Quentin, Penny, Alice, Eliot, and Margo, things were… not so great. I mean, if we’re being honest with ourselves, things weren’t looking so great for literally anybody on that show, and that includes Kady and Julia.

This is all to say that things on The Magicians are pretty dang dark, and if you’re curious as to how each of these magicians is feeling about the season ahead, then you should check out this exclusive video shared with us by Syfy. There isn’t a whole lot of new footage per se, but it’s absolutely packed with gorgeous visuals of the characters each embodying their royal Fillorian selves. The voiceovers from each of them, though, belie their concerns, revealing that ruling over a world literally made of magic isn’t exactly all it’s cracked up to be.

Penny, ever the straight-up voice of reason, says, “Something is seriously wrong with this place. Magic is dying. We can’t let that happen.” And, after last season’s cliffhanger ending wherein Julia vanished with The Beast after stealing the only weapon that’s capable of killing him, she returns here in this video standing tall, saying, “Sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to gain control…  even if it means changing who you are.”

Needless to say, things are getting real in Fillory, and if you’ve read the books, then you know exactly what’s in store for these students.

The Magicians season 2 premieres January 25th. If you can’t wait til then, then maybe these really sweet character photos will help tide you over. Does anyone feel up to some rampant speculation? I sure do. Meet me in the comments.
