More Mad Max on the Way: Tom Hardy Is Signed on for THREE More

This is madness!

The latest Mad Max: Fury Road trailer got us pretty hyped, and that’s extra good news for Warner Bros., because they’ve got three more Mad movies lined up according to Tom Hardy’s contract.

In an interview with Esquire, Hardy—Max Rockatansky/habitual star of movies featuring strange facial hardware—said that the exact level of our rampant excitement is what will ultimately decide if those other three films get made. It reads,

“I’ve never been more excited and out of my comfort zone.” He’s seen the film, and says it’s “fucking unbelievable”. He’s attached to a further three Mad Max films, though as he says, “Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived. Inevitably it’s a business.”

And from what we’ve seen so far, business is—or will be—good.

Original Mad Max co-creator/director and Fury Road writer/director George Miller had already been planning to make Fury Road back-to-back with a sequel, so it’s not entirely surprising that he’s got more madness on the brain, but that plan didn’t work out as intended. Hey, making movies is tough, and while we’re already looking ahead to the future, Hardy’s just happy they got through this one in one piece, saying, “Luckily nobody died.”

We look forward to appreciating that dedication to practical effects when the movie comes out on May 15.
