The Rise of the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition Has a Cool Lara Croft Statuette
We’ve seen a couple of different outfits for Lara Croft in the upcoming trailers for Rise of the Tomb Raider, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Collector’s Edition statuette features her most utilitarian outfit by far: a winter coat, scarf, boots, and a pair of khakis that isn’t even form-fitting. (Those same pants look tighter in some other shots, like this one of her wearing a tank top, but I’m just going to assume they’re more practical for climbing than they look.)
One of my main irritations in the first Tomb Raider reboot was that Lara Croft never seems to find a coat, in spite of how often she shivers through the cold night in a tank top, so it’s cool to see her outfitted and prepared in a slick outfit this time around. Seeing the statuette design nod to Lara’s newfound sense of preparedness is very cool, too.
The whole collection probably comes in that wooden crate on the right, and it includes a steel case for the game (top left), a jade necklace for would-be Lara Croft cosplayers (bottom left, including a small bag to hold the necklace when you aren’t wearing it), and a replica of Lara’s journal from the game (no idea if it includes notes or if you get to write your own in). Plus, of course, the aforementioned 12-inch statuette and the game itself.
The whole bundle will cost you $150 (given that the game is $60, all the add-ons cost $90). Admittedly, that’s almost double the cost of the previous game’s Collector’s Set, which was $80 in total, but there’s a lot more stuff included this time … and the figurine’s way cooler this time, too, if you ask me.
