The Tomb Raider Movie Trailer Looks So Much Better Than the Poster
A low bar, but still.
Yesterday, the Tomb Raider movie reboot, following 2013’s popular Tomb Raider game reboot, got its first official poster, and it left a lot of people wondering why they didn’t draw more inspiration from the game—and also about the Photoshop skills of whoever made it. Now, the first trailer has made its debut, and it definitely feels a lot closer to the game.
That’s no surprise, after Alicia Vikander’s new Lara Croft look already made it clear that the movie would stick to what worked in the new games, but finally seeing it on-screen should be pretty exciting for fans. The trailer contains some pretty explicit nods to its source material, including a boat scene that looks awfully similar to the 2013 game’s opening.
On the other hand, one trailer is still not a lot to go on, and what makes a good game doesn’t necessarily make a good movie—which we have learned time and time again with video game movies over the years. There’s plenty that could still go wrong with this one, so we’ll be watching closely as its March 16, 2018 release date approaches.
