FYI: A Top Gun Sequel Is Still Happening, According To Jerry Bruckheimer

While Jerry Bruckheimer is busy trying to churn out another Pirates of the Caribbean, he has something far more dangerous on his agenda we should be concerning ourselves with – a Top Gun sequel. Gutsiest move I ever saw, Mav.

The film was a landmark role for Tom Cruise in 1986. In fact, Bruckheimer said at a recent conference, “What Tom tells me is that no matter where he goes in the world, people refer to him as Maverick.”

Fair enough. But does that mean people are actually asking for more Top Gun? Bruckheimer doesn’t say but he’s making it regardless.

“For 30 years we’ve been trying to make a sequel and we’re not going to stop. We still want to do it with Tom [Cruise] and Paramount are still interested in making it,” he said, noting the death of director Tony Scott put the project on pause.

And Cruise? “It’s something he is excited about so as long as he keeps his enthusiasm hopefully we’ll get it made,” said Bruckheimer.

What do you think? Could an updated Top Gun work?
