Kellyanne Conway’s Husband Compares Trump to Jar Jar Binks, Which Is an Insult to Gungans Everywhere
Hasn't Jar Jar been through enough?
Living through the Upside Down that is the Trump administration has us all doing things we never thought we’d do. Things like longing for Mitt Romney or agreeing with Ann Coulter. Now, they’ve got us rooting for one of the most reviled characters of the Star Wars universe: Jar Jar Binks.
The comparison came up in a Washington Post opinion piece by Henry Olsen. Olsen targets Trump’s rambling, incoherent speeches, writing “Even the modern tyrants whom the president … praises demonstrate more facility with language and more attention to governing detail than does he. To borrow from popular culture, Trump looks less like the sinister Emperor Palpatine and more like the hapless Jar Jar Binks.”
This quote was tweeted by George Conway, the husband of Kellyanne Conway, who despite his wife’s position in the White House, has remained vocally critical of the president (dinner at their house must be fun).

And here’s the thing: Trump and Jar Jar do share some similarities. Both are tall, orange, and the worst parts of their respective franchises (Star Wars and the American presidency, respectively). But Jar Jar Binks was not a soulless, corrupt evil emperor. He was a hapless, poorly written, racially problematic Gungan.
And unlike Trump, Jar Jar didn’t refuse to serve due to bone spurs. He was a general in the Gungan army, battling the Trade Federation’s droid army. He was also a delegate in the Galactic Senate, so he at least has some political experience, unlike Trump. Although to be fair, he did give a speech extending executive powers to Chancellor Palpatine, which directly led to Palpatine overthrowing the senate and establishing autocratic rule. So maybe he’s more of a Ted Cruz/Lindsey Graham type than a Trump?
Frankly, I blame Padmé Amidala for appointing this dummy in the first place, but that’s an article for another day. Anyway, people took to Twitter to express their support for Jar Jar who, compared to Trump, isn’t so bad I guess?
Jar Jar Binks damn near ruined Star Wars but even he doesn’t deserve to be compared to Trump. https://t.co/6AbvUXwpCy

Trump is being compared to Jar Jar Binks today, and somehow Trump is actually the more racist character.

never thought I’d ever type this sentence in my life but here we go:
comparing Trump to Jar Jar Binks is an insult to Jar Jar Binks

If Trump is Jar Jar Binks then could somebody step up and be our Qui-Gon Jinn… pic.twitter.com/CAyL2oB5Jq

Dang. You know a timeline's gone sideways when you start feeling bad for Jar Jar Binks. https://t.co/SfZqCzFWlA

As one of the many Star Wars fans who loathes the character, it's an insult to compare him to the lobotomized oompa-loompa.
Time to add "Defending Jar Jar Binks" to the laundry list of reasons why 45's presidency is an abomination. https://t.co/ygygQfTKn6

Woke up to see Jar Jar Binks trending on twitter only to find that people are comparing @realDonaldTrump to JJB.
This is NOT COOL, folks.
DJT is not Jar Jar.
He is Jabba The Hutt. Repulsive criminal monster, mistreats women, comes to a bad end & it's entirely his own fault. https://t.co/ZFb1S8H7z7

Hah! I just had this conversation with someone. Trump could never be Palpatine. His midichlorian count is 0.
Putin and/or Mogilevich is Palpatine. At best, Trump is Grand Moff Tarkin.
At worst & most likely: he’s a battle droid from Episode II, which are easy AF to take out. pic.twitter.com/D9heF72iEB

Who do you think Trump most resembles in the Star Wars universe?
