God’s Twitter Account Is Becoming a Broadway Play
Will he thank himself when he wins a Tony?
God works in mysterious ways, so he’s made an effort to be a little more candid with his public on Twitter. The @TheTweetOfGod Twitter account has already made it into bookstores thanks to God’s human prophet, David Javerbaum, but soon, it’ll be coming to Broadway as a play.
Both Twitter and religious-themed comedy plays (Book of Mormon, anyone?) have seen enormous success lately, so it was only a matter of time until Twitter’s best religious parody account made the transition to the stage.
Everything happens for a reason, and the reason is I’m not very good at My job.

The play, coming in 2015, will be an adaptation of the book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God called An Act of God. It follows Javerbaum, or a character based on him at least, as God’s tortured, modern-day prophet. Javerbaum, a former head writer and executive producer of The Daily Show, is already in character according to The Wrap, saying:
I am deeply disappointed that [the play’s producer] Jeffrey Finn has decided to produce this show. It will force me to continue my unwanted professional association with God, an abstract entity who has given me nothing but discomfort and agita. It is my desperate hope that we close out of town.
Sorry, Javerbaum. It looks like you’ll be spreading His good news for some time to come. Perhaps His words will bring you comfort.
Death is a lifetime achievement award.
