Ninjas Care About the Issues, Too: Shinobi Ninja Headlining @Twestival in NYC

Recommended Videos

Tonight, Shinobi Ninja, a DIY rock band hailing from Brooklyn, NY, will be the headlining act at New York City Twestival 2010. According to the Twestival website:

Some ninjas are stealthy. Others attack their enemies with great ferocity. In the case of Shinobi Ninja, they kill through a combination of hard rockin’ riddims, razor-sharp rhymes and a hipster attitude that does Brooklyn proud.

Shinobi Ninja, formed in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York in 2008, has developed a strong following through self-promotion, production, and their avid use of Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace, along with their own iPhone app. Drummer Terminator Dave writes via Facebook, ““Up to this point, we’ve insisted on doing it all ourselves, all the way.” Expect band members Dave Aaron, Baby Girl, DJ Axis Powers, Maniac Mike, Adriano Morez, and Terminator Dave to bust songs from their debut release, Brooklyn to Babylon EP, when they hit the stage tonight with DJ Mister Disco.

The New York City Twestival kicks off tonight at 7 PM at the Good Units at 356 West 58th Street. In it’s second year, Twestivals are worldwide events held at local venues to raise money and awareness for a variety of charities and projects by way of social media. This year, all ticket proceeds and donations go to Concern Worldwide, an anti-poverty organization working in childhood education.
