To the Surprise Of No One, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 Gets Nominated in Every Single Razzie Awards Category
This Makes Sense
Tomorrow morning the 2013 Oscar nominations will be announced, but today we’re focusing our attention on the Razzies, which have honored (well, “honored”) the worst achievements in film since 1981. Judging by the noms alone, Razzie voters seem to have already picked their least favorite film of the year: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which was nominated 11 times in 10 categories.
I’d question what the Razzies will do now that there are no more Twilight movies to nominate (THANK. YOU. GOD.), but it’s not like there’s any shortage of awful movies without sparkly vampires in them. Still, the Razzies should give the franchise a lifetime achievement award or something.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2* will be going up against Battleship, The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure , That’s My Boy, and A Thousand Words for worst picture.
Kristen Stewart was nominated for Worst Actress for Breaking Dawn and Snow White and the Huntsman combined, which isn’t as bad as last year, when Jessica Alba was nominated for four performances. This year’s other worst actress nominees are Katherine Heigl (One for the Money), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil: Retribution), Tyler Perry-in-Drag (Madea’s Witness Protection), and Barbara Streisand (Guilt Trip).
Predictably, Breaking Dawn: Part 2 was also nominated for Worst Actor (Robert Pattinson, who’ll be going up against Nicolas Cage, Eddie Murphy, and Adam Sandler–tough competition), Worst Supporting Actor (Taylor Lautner), Worst Supporting Actress (Ashley Greene), Worst Director (Bill Condon), Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst Screenplay (Melissa Rosenberg), Worst Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel, and Worst Screen Couple. In that last category it got two noms: One for Pattinson and Stewart, the other for Lautner and Mackenzie Foy, who played Renesmee. I think we have a clear winner there, though there’s a possible dark horse candidate in “Tyler Perry and his drag in Madea’s Witness Protection.”
Robert Pattinson is probably loving this.
