Twilight: Eclipse Blasted with Bad IMDb Ratings Before Anyone’s Even Seen It
In spite of the fact that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hasn’t even hit movie theaters yet and has only been seen by a handful of celebrities and reporters at last week’s premiere, it’s getting barraged by awful, awful ratings on IMDb. Twilight: Eclipse currently has a 3.3 rating out of 2,818 votes; by contrast, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, which is widely considered to be one of the worst movies of all time and has an abysmal 00% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, beats it with an IMDb rating of 3.4.
You can guess why:
Below, the current voting stats from IMDb:
Talk about your bimodal distributions! 1027 “10” votes and 1419 “1” votes, and a massive gap between male and female average ratings across all age groups. It would appear that there’s been a boys-vs-girls war among the coveted 18-29 demographic, with young males zapping the movie with bad ratings and a smaller number of young females futilely trying to staunch the bad rating onslaught.
This is all admittedly silly because as soon as the film hits theater audiences on June 30th, the current ratings will, for better or worse, be washed away by the masses. The first Twilight got more than 100,000 votes on IMDb and wound up with an OK-ish average rating of 5.7.
