Things We Saw Today: Willem Dafoe’s Original Green Goblin Mask Was Next-Level Nightmare Fuel

Recommended Videos

Willem Dafoe generally needs no help upping his creep factor, but for his role as the Green Goblin in the original Spider-Man movies, the team at Amalgamated Dynamics still wanted to give him a hand. While they eventually landed on the metallic, removable mask that made it into the final film, in the above video you can see that they were originally going for a waxier, goblin-ier look similar to the comics.

And that look was creepy as hell. I don’t do horror movies, myself, so this sunk-cheeked, sharp-teethed mask will be haunting my dreams. (via The Hollywood Reporter)

  • Randall Park, one of the stars of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, has been cast in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Collider and The Tracking Board report that he’ll be playing SHIELD Agent Jimmy Woo, though The Hollywood Reporter doesn’t have any role listed. The first Ant-Man suffered from an excess of minority-as-comic-relief characters (much as I love Michael Peña), so I personally hope Park has been cast in a more heroic role like a SHIELD agent.
  • Erica Durance, who played Smallville‘s Lois Lane, will replace Laura Benanti as Kara’s mom, Alura, on Supergirl. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
  • I am not a stable enough adult to purchase coffee table books, but if I were, I would want The Art of Mondo. This big ol’ art book (industry term) collects the company’s iconic pop culture posters into one beautiful edition, and should be available on September 12. (via io9)

  • Dimas Ilaw wrote this beautiful essay, “After A Revolution,” about how long, and how tiring, the fight for a better world can be – and why we must keep trying anyway.
