Marvel Studios Promotes Victoria Alonso To Executive VP of Physical Production
Victoria Alonso, former visual effects chief at Marvel Studios, has just gotten a promotion to executive vice president of physical production. Alonso has had a long career in visual effects, and she’s also often advocated for other women in the vfx field; she’ll now be one of the few women to hold a chief position in physical production at a studio. A brief scroll through her IMDB page will reveal her many credits both at Marvel Studios and at other studios previously.
Readers may recall Alonso’s name cited in our coverage of the rumored shake-ups at Marvel Studios; she would reportedly be among the few responsible for “key creative decisions,” alongside Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito. At the very least, Alonso’s recent promotion seems to suggest that her work and input is considered valuable. And just to reiterate what that input might be — when asked about a timeline for female-fronted superhero films, Alonso said: “If it were up to me, it would be today.”
