Viral videos are a huge part of today’s version of mass culture. We talk about them ad nauseum, we post them on social network sites (and frequently on this site); we even hold film festivals surrounding them. But the phenomenon of the viral video has grown so big, with so many genres and sub-genres and youtube stars, that it can be a little difficult to sit down and define what exactly embodies the viral video without excluding a whole bunch of them. Which is why we’re glad to have this video–featuring professional-interneters from sites like Buzzfeed, College Humor, Know Your Meme, and Youtube–to help us navigate these treacherous waters.
