The Walking Dead Casts Phineas and Ferb Star As A Friend For Carl
Braaaaiiiinnnnns
Just the other day we heard AMC’s The Walking Dead was adding the comic book character Rosita Espinosa to their ranks, now there’s another casting. But is this a new character or someone we’re familiar with?
Vincent Martella, who plays Phineas Flynn on Disney’s Phineas and Ferb, will be starring in Season 4 of the hit AMC series when it returns on October 13. He’s playing a character named Patrick. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly he explained:
“He’s right around Carl’s age,” explains Martella. “He’s a little bit older. He’s one of the new people who Carl gets a little closer with. Carl hasn’t really had anybody his age, so now you kind of get to see Carl’s relationship with people his own age and that’s one of the things that Patrick is bringing to the show.”
It will be interesting to see Carl, actor Chandler Riggs, get someone his own age (or close to it) to respond to. While it won’t have the same impact as his interactions with Sophia, nor the same as in the comic where he’s still quite younger than his on-screen counterpart, I think it will add an interesting dynamic to the show. The casting, and Martella’s information begs the question though – is Patrick a stand-in for the comic character Ben? Previous casting notices had Patrick with a brother named Mack but we’ll have to wait and see how they’re utilized this season.
For his part, Martella is really excited to be on the show. “I was actually a massive fan of The Walking Dead,” he said. “I’ve watched it since its premiere. It’s been such a cool thing for me to be a part of the show that I’m such a big fan of, because I don’t watch too much television religiously, like every single week. But this is one of those shows, so I’m really lucky.”
[Editor’s note: Please put “SPOILER” in front of your comment if discussing the comic plotlines.]
