One Walking Dead Actor Wants To Play Rocket Raccoon While Robert Kirkman Works On A Prequel

Oh Really?

Most people probably don’t even know who Rocket Raccoon is, but one actor from AMC’s The Walking Dead wants to play him in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Plus, comic creator Robert Kirkman has announced a new prequel novel, but which character’s story will be told? Read on to find out!

So, have you guessed which actor wants the animal gig yet? It’s Merle, actor Michael Rooker.

“I love raccoons. Raccoons are my friends,” said Rooker, though I’m hearing it in Merle’s voice. He spoke with MovieWeb about the role that may not be that far fetched considering he’s worked with director James Gunn before. But does he think he’s right for the role?

Oh, yeah. Most certainly. I know that James Gunn is doing it. He is directing it, and he is re-writing it. He is a very loyal director. He is a very loyal writer, when it comes to working with people that he knows and loves. He really appreciates the efforts that each actor puts into these roles. And I would be very honored and pleased to work with James Gunn again…Whether it will happen or not, I don’t know. But he is a dynamite guy, and we have remained friends ever since we worked together on Slither.

I haven’t done much research on it at all yet. Because I don’t know what is going to happen. I’m really crazy busy with The Walking Dead right now. But you know what? Write this up. Tweet the fuck out of it. If the fans want me as Rocket Raccoon, Marvel will listen to you guys, I think, sometimes…Perhaps I will be lucky and blessed enough to go in there, and go at it with Mr. Gunn again, who knows?

Meanwhile, Kirkman has revealed to Entertainment Weekly he’s working on a third Walking Dead prequel novel:

The second novel progresses the Governor’s timeline a lot more and is getting you closer and closer to the events that occurred in the comic book series. And so some of the events in the comic book series are actually going to appear in the third novel. The third novel is going to be a whole new story but you’re actually going to get to see Rick Grimes and Michonne and some of the other characters, which you haven’t seen in the novel series thus far.

So there you go. What do you think of both these news bits?  Did you have someone in mind for Rocket Raccoon already? Have you read Kirkman’s first prequel novel?
