AMC’s The Walking Dead has cast one of the comic book’s more prominent female characters for the upcoming season.

Christian Serratos will play Rosita Espinosa. Most people will know her from The Twilight Saga, where she played Bella’s schoolmate Angela.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Serratos will recur as Rosita Espinosa on the adaptation of Robert Kirkman‘s long-running series, with an option to be promoted to series regular for season five. The character first surfaced in the 53rd issue of the series.”

In the comics, Rosita has two travel companions we’ve also yet to see on the AMC series. They’ve yet to be cast either, so we’re not sure how she’ll be introduced. Needless to say, it’s refreshing to see another interesting female character from the comic coming on board. Especially after the death of Andrea last season. Let’s just hope they do right by her.

The network announced just yesterday they’ll be pursuing a spin-off series.
