AMC Previews The Walking Dead Season 3, Sets Up Zombie Escape Route At Comic-Con

We’ve been in zombie hibernation mode for a while. There’s been no reported attacks but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared for one when the time comes. Thankfully, AMC has joined with Comic-Con International in San Diego to create a simulated zombie apocalypse for you to fight your way out of. They’ve also released a first look at the upcoming season of The Walking Dead! Hit the jump for details on both. 

Ok, first things first, because I’m sure you’re more excited to get a look at Season 3 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at filming that includes some spoilers for the end of Season 2, as well as location and new character info for Season 3.

Now, if you’re attending SDCC this year, you have something extra special to look forward to. Two years ago, AMC had a phenomenal set up on the convention show floor with fake dead bodies and such. Last year, they brought a replica of Merle handcuffed to the roof. But they’ve outdone themselves this time. AMC is taking over Petco Park, the baseball field near the convention center to create The Walking Dead Escape.

The course has been specifically designed for participants with a wide range of abilities. The world we know is about to end. An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions will sweep the globe causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. The only way to survive is to buy an Evac Pass, track the virus and get out before it is too late. In a matter of months society will crumble and San Diego will be first of many cities to fall. Only a few will escape. Some won’t even try.

It’s a timed course but it’s not a race, just a race to survive. The goal is to the evacuation zone without coming into contact with any walkers/zombies. And yes, there will be hordes.

Tickets are between $70-90, depending on when you purchase them, and there’s a limited amount available because of the time element in the course. You must be 16 or older to participate and you can be a survivor, walker, or just a spectator if you’re too scared. Read more in their FAQ.

This sounds unbelievably awesome. Yet another reason to be bummed I’m not attending SDCC this year.
