Tech Manufacturer Tweets, Quickly Deletes Stupidly Sexist Ad Aimed At Gamers
Is "chronically misrepresented" an option?
So @ASUSUK deleted the offending image. Here it is again, because I saved it. pic.twitter.com/C4SdFRur6j

Early yesterday morning UK tech company Asus published a Twitter ad that would have been sexist at the best of times but was particularly tone-deaf considering the recent controversy surrounding games and the gamer community. The company received immediate backlash and quickly apologized for the ad (hey, that’s more than can be said for Intel), but, as the saying goes, the Internet and all its accompanying bummers are forever.
The screencap is now preserved for posterity; hopefully not just to make an example of Asus (who, to their extreme credit, seem apologetic) but as an example of damaging and persistent gender biases. “Pristine keyboard” my messy ass.
