If you like to start the work week out with a little murder and intrigue (and who doesn’t?!), you’ve probably been wondering when Death on the Nile—the latest Agatha Christie film adaption and sequel to Murder on the Orient Express—would show up on streaming platforms. The film hit theaters on February 11, 2022, and captivated mystery fans with its timeless whodunnit plot. The story involves famed detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh), whose Egyptian vacation is interrupted when a couple’s blissful honeymoon is cut short … by murder. Heiress Linnet Ridgeway-Doyle (Gal Gadot) has been murdered in her sleep and someone on board the cruise ship is guilty. When more murders begin to occur to cover the tracks, the search for the suspect turns quite terrifying.

Death on the Nile’s reception was mixed, but leaned slightly positive. I thought it was a tad old-fashioned and predictable, but still, it was entertaining. And of course, bolstered by its star-studded cast which, along with Branagh and Gadot, includes Letitia Wright, Russell Brand, Emma Mackey, and Tom Bateman. However, while the cast boasted a lot of talent, it also had its fair share of controversy. Armie Hammer’s presence in Death on the Nile, in particular, felt shocking considering the allegations against him.

However, despite controversy and delays, the long-awaited film made its way to theaters last month. While some films have experimented with dual streaming and theatrical releases since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Death on the Nile had an exclusively theatrical release. However, its box office performance was disappointing, especially in comparison to Murder on the Orient Express. On the plus side, that’s likely why it will be making its way to streaming fairly quickly.

Where and when to stream Death on the Nile

Death on the Nile will be available to stream on a total of three platforms: Hulu, HBO Max, and Disney+. U.S. residents will be able to watch the film on Hulu or HBO Max. Meanwhile, the Disney+ release will be in the U.K. and Canada. Hulu and HBO Max will receive the film on the same date, March 29, while Disney Plus will release it on March 30. Additionally, Death on the Nile will release on Star+ on April 20 in Latin America.

While not a smash hit, Death on the Nile is a fun sleuthing adventure for anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery. Its subdued performance at the box office isn’t necessarily a reflection of the film’s quality. With reviews being generally favorable, the film might make more of a splash once it hits streaming.
