Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Disney+ series is just around the corner, and fans are excited for the debut of the Marvel’s Wrecking Crew. The Wrecking Crew had been highly rumored to be making their live-action debut in the series, alongside the Matador, Man-Bull, and Frog-Man. Meanwhile, about 8 seconds into the first She-Hulk: Attorney at Law trailer, we see a group of five men who look an awful lot like the Wrecking Crew. While it was originally thought that this group was the Wrecking Crew, the second She-Hulk trailer showed a different group that was clearly the Wrecking Crew in their comic book uniforms.

It’s unclear who the first group was in She-Hulk‘s original trailer. However, given that each of them appeared to have a different weapon, one of which was a crowbar, they certainly seemed to point to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) iteration of the villainous team. Similar to the Matador and Man-Bull, the Wrecking Crew were opponents of Daredevil at times. Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has been confirmed to be appearing in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and seems to be bringing several of his opponents with him.

In the comics, the Wrecking Crew not only had a connection to Daredevil, but also to the Punisher. After all, the Wrecking Crew was actually hired by the Punisher’s rival Jigsaw at one point to kill Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher). While the Punisher hasn’t been confirmed to be appearing in the MCU, Marvel almost seems to be paving the way for his entrance with the introduction of a bunch of Daredevil villains in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Here’s everything you need to know about Marvel’s supervillain team the Wrecking Crew.

Who are the Wrecking Crew in Marvel?

(Marvel Comics)

The Wrecking Crew is a team consisting of four members: Dirk Garthwaite (Wrecker), Henry Camp (Bulldozer I), Brian Phillip Calusky (Piledriver), and Dr. Eliot Franklin (Thunderball). Before becoming the Wrecking Crew, they were a group of prisoners who struck up an alliance. The leader and founder of the group is Garthwaite. He uses the alias the Wrecker and is known for destroying crime scenes by smashing them with his crowbar.

During his crime spree in the comics, he happens upon Loki, whose powers have been temporarily taken away by Odin. Loki is seeking to get them back from Karnilla, the Norn Queen. However, after the Wrecker steals Loki’s horned helmet, Karnilla mistakenly grants him magical powers instead of Loki. As a result, Wrecker gains superhuman strength and a magical, indestructible crowbar. The Asgardians manage to overpower him, though, and send him to prison. While there, he manages to retrieve his magical crowbar. During a lightning storm, he gathers Calusky, Camp, and Dr. Franklin, urging them to each hold a weapon. When lighting strikes Wrecker’s crowbar, its magical abilities extended to the tools the others hold.

Camp becomes Bulldozer I, with his special tool being a helmet that he uses to ram his enemies. Calusky becomes Piledriver and gains big, pile-driving fists. Meanwhile, Dr. Franklin becomes Thunderball and wields a demolition ball on a chain. With their newfound powers, the group breaks out of a prison and seeks out a gamma bomb that Thunderball created. They are quickly defeated, but they are undeterred and forge onward as a supervillain team.

The Wrecking Crew in the Marvel comics and the MCU

Despite their superhuman strength and magical weapons, the Wrecking Crew has never been very successful at being a supervillain team. Over the years, they’ve cooked up numerous schemes, such as attempting to kill Thor, attempting to kill Punisher, joining the Masters of Evil, joining the Hood’s gang, and taking hostages. In virtually every scenario, though, they’ve been promptly defeated and placed back in prison or in S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. However, they’d simply break out and start the cycle over again.

While the group is primarily made up of the four members, there have been other temporary members at times. Piledriver’s son and Bulldozer’s daughter both had a stint on the team, as well as Demolisher—an unnamed female mercenary. It is unclear how many members the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s Crew will have, as the group in the first trailer has five, but the group in the second trailer has four.

What the Wrecking Crew’s roles in the series will be remains to be seen. All we know from the trailer is that She-Hulk will likely make quick work of them. However, considering that the Hood is rumored to making his debut in Ironheart, there might be potential for the group to show up elsewhere in the MCU, too.
