Will Ferrell Launches New Female-Focused Production Company

Gary Sanchez Productions (named after a fictional Paraguayan entrepreneur) has announced that it is creating a new division, Gloria Sanchez Productions (named after an equally fictional female step-granddaughter of a Paraguayan entrepreneur) that will focus on creating female-led television and movie comedy projects.

GSP was founded seven years ago by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Chris Henchy, and has gone on to produce movies like Step Brothers, Megamind, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, Casa de Mi Padre, Anchorman 2, and the Drunk History television series. The Gloria Sanchez division is the brainchild of Jessica Elbaum, producer for GSP since Step Brothers. Ferrell and McKay said in a statement:

When Jessica came to us with this idea, we thought it was fantastic. She has worked with some of the great female voices in comedy and has proven herself as a gifted producer who has a keen eye for material.

Elbaum hopes to pull from both established and emerging female comedy talent, and we’re looking forward to the results.
