Newly minted media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery has already sent waves through the television and film industry. The $43 billion dollar deal is looking to streamline their offerings, with the hopes of turning the scattered DCEU into its “own solidified content vertical.” The company is also rumored to be looking for their own Kevin Feige, a creative director who can oversee all of their DC content. The WBD has put original programming from TNT and TBS on the chopping block, as well as canceling several shows on the currently-for-sale CW network. During their upfronts presentation, CEO David Zaslav proudly stated, “Our extraordinary people and creative partners, these diverse perspectives and experiences are invaluable to our organization and our storytelling,” adding “Simply stated, we have the content that viewers want.”

And while WBD has a rich slate of superhero content coming up (Batgirl, Aquaman 2, etc.), diehard Zack Snyder fans want one thing and one thing only: the restoration of the Snyderverse.

Twitter was quickly flooded with the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderverse as fans clamored for Snyder to continue his Justice League saga. And it’s hardly a surprise: after all, years of campaigning for the Snyder cut, HBO Max released Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. The four-hour opus was largely well received with significantly better reviews than the Joss Whedon version. It was also widely watched, becoming the fourth-most-streamed film debut on the platform that year behind The Suicide Squad, Godzilla vs Kong, and Mortal Kombat.

So Is the Snyderverse Coming Back?

The short answer? No. WBD didn’t mention any plans to bring Snyder back into the fold. Snyder himself is currently filming Rebel Moon, a science fiction epic for Netflix starring  Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Justice League alum Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, and many more. He recently tweeted pictures from the first day of shooting.

Still, many never thought we’d get the Snyder cut, so it’s impossible to know what the future holds. Maybe someday we’ll see Snyder return to the DCEU.
