More Wonder Woman Set Photos Reveal First Meeting Between Diana and Steve Trevor

It's happening! Pardon my squee.

I still can’t express how fully excited I am for this Wonder Woman movie. Every little piece of filming news I get these days has me eagerly looking ahead to when this will finally premiere in theaters next year–but for now, I think I can safely say that this is a pretty big source of excitement for me.

We’ve gotten glimpses into Diana’s life as an Amazon on the island of Themyscira already–we even got a sneak peek at the kickass armor that will be donned by some of these amazing and strong women! Now, photos from the set have emerged showcasing the filming of a classic and very well-known scene among Wonder Woman fans–the first moment Diana encounters Steve Trevor when he washes up on the shores of Themyscira.

You can see a few of the photos (obviously snapped from a very sneaky distance) which reveal Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, as well as Robin Wright (who plays Diana’s aunt) filming the scene:

One thing I’m noticing from these is that Diana’s sandals aren’t actually high-heeled in this scene–leading me to wonder if she’ll even really be in heels until maybe later in the movie when she winds up donning her Wonder Woman tiara and bracelets? The other thing that sticks out to me is the fact that it looks like they’ll be utilizing some kind of green-screen effect based on the photo where the Amazons have come riding up to Diana and Steve, so I’ll be curious to see how that turns out once the final CGI is placed in.

I’m just so psyched to see that this scene is happening, much less being filmed! Why, oh why are you so far away still, Wonder Woman?
