Gal Gadot: Wonder Woman “Comes Out of Retirement” to Fight, Might Be Too Old For This Mess
That was a Lethal Weapon reference. Just so you know.
As the Batman v Superman hype begins to peak, we’re going to start seeing more (hopefully) great interviews just like this one. According to Empire Magazine’s in-depth look at the movie (as shared by What Culture), it seems like Wonder Woman might be rocking some Lethal Weapon vibes.
Gal Gadot revealed that in the DC Cinematic Universe, Wonder Woman will be around 5,000 years old. More than that, at the beginning of the movie, she’s completely retired and over being a superhero. This lends a lot of interesting context to her sudden appearance in the Batman v Superman trailer. As Gadot puts it, “She’s seen it all. She has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight.”
An interesting bit from the interview as well: Gadot thought she was going in to audition for the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman. While that would’ve been interesting to see, I think that the decision to include Wonder Woman was a sound one. Moreover, it seems like that fact might be informing her performance as Diana Prince.
When she was talking about her in-character interaction with Bruce Wayne and how similar her character might be to Selina Kyle, Gadot said, “They have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don’t want people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty.”
Huh. Okay, then. Curious what she might mean by that? I guess the only way to find out more is to check out Batman v Superman when it hits theaters on March 25th.
