X-Men Days of Future Past Writer Talks About Quicksilver’s Inclusion As It Relates To The Avengers

During the hype for the film, many of our readers complained about X-Men Days of Future Past’s Quicksilver. But having seen the film, I can tell you he was the best part. That’s not to say The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s version won’t be cooler but listen to writer Simon Kinberg as he’s asked to explain why the character was chosen for the film.

Now, we don’t know what was going on in Hollywood but Joss Whedon confirmed he’d be using both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch on May 17 of last year, though it was hinted at on April 21. Bryan Singer made the casting announcement for X-Men’s Quicksilver (Evan Peters) on May 23. He even made what could have passed for a dig at the Avengers sequel in his tweet, (Age of Ultron’s Quicksilver – Aaron Taylor-Johnsonwasn’t revealed until October.), and while I don’t mean to imply they did it on purpose, it’s hard to believe they hadn’t heard rumblings about the character.
