Who's scruffy looking?

It’s all Harrison Ford, all the time! Earlier today we learned that Ford will be starring in Indiana Jones 5, and now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the three rumored frontrunners to fill Ford’s shoes in the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller young Han Solo movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Taron Egerton (pictured above, in his Kingsman role) appear to be favorites for the part, although THR admits “there could be a few other names on the list, though due to the high level of secrecy on all Star Wars projects, it’s hard to ascertain them.”

The three actors were in London last weekend testing for the film and were chosen from a group of 10 actors who reportedly met with the director. (Apparently our fan-casting for the part went unnoticed. Rude, Disney.)

That original list of ten featured a few actors I couldn’t imagine in the part (including Divergent‘s Ansel Elgort and Whiplash‘s Miles Teller), so the options on this shortlist seem pretty inoffensive in comparison. Casting aside though, I still have no idea how this movie will work. I love Miller and Lord, and Lawrence Kasdan’s involvement is reassuring, but for me there’s no Han Solo without Harrison Ford. It seems preposterous to me to expect any actor to measure up to Ford’s work in the role, but I really hope I’m proven wrong.

What do you think? Are you optimistic about the young Han Solo movie?
