Zack Snyder Defends Aquaman’s Honor On The Radio While Warners Tries To Explain Batman v Superman Date Change

Sea bros?

Zack Snyder really likes Aquaman, you guys. One might even say they’re Super Friends.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director surprised everyone today by randomly calling into a CBS Detroit radio station to discuss Aquaman. You know, the DC Comics character Jason Momoa is almost certainly playing in the film? Here’s what he said to the hosts:

You guys were disparaging, a little bit, Aquaman…I don’t want to like give anything away about the movie or anything like that but Aquaman has some cool abilities that I guess people are like, “Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?” or whatever. But I think the cool thing is with Aquaman, you know, his Trident, people don’t realize like that could actually, that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. That’s a thing that’s in the canon. He’s super strong cause of course he can exist at these super deep depths so when he comes up here he’s crazy strong. But anyway, not to say he’s in my movie or anything like that but I’m just saying he has the potential to be bad ass, that’s all I’m saying.

At this point I have no idea why Snyder and the rest are still playing coy as to the involvement of other characters in the film, but, there you go.

Warner Bros recently made fandom chuckle when they decided to move the release date of Batman v Superman from May 6, 2016 to March 25, 2016 so it no longer fell on the same day as Captain America 3. But Entertainment Weekly got a little more information about that from Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman.

“The reality now is there really isn’t a bad week to open a movie,” says Dan Fellman, Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution. “If you look at the summer box office this year, you can see that there were so many movies, one after the other. You can start with Spider-Man, two weeks later Godzilla, and then Maleficent, and then Edge of Tomorrow, and then Jump Street and Transformers. And the one thing they all had in common, not one of them did over $250 million. We’ll be the first one up [in 2016], which is very important, and we’ll have six weeks before Captain America comes in.”

But why did they plant their flag in the first place? After all, Marvel Entertainment did have the original date set for an untitled superhero film first.

“In terms of going back and reviewing the situation, it looked to us—and maybe our reconnaissance wasn’t great—that they were not going to have a movie [ready] on that date,” says Fellman. “Just that they held onto it and they might not be able to deliver. But they took another position.”

Really? REALLY? You thought the Marvel machine wouldn’t have a film ready by 2016?
