Zack Snyder’s Superman/Batman Crossover Movie to Film This Weekend in Los Angeles
Zack Snyder didn't stop at Batfleck. Now he's putting football in superhero movies, too.
While full production isn’t expected to start until 2014, Zack Snyder is getting a jump on filming for the upcoming, Superman vs. Batman Man of Steel sequel this weekend at an East Los Angeles College football game. It is not likely that a football stadium will ever be packed with so many geeks again.
During half time at a game between ELAC Huskies and Victor Valley College on Saturday, October 19, the stadium will be transformed into Gotham City University’s home stadium for a game against rival Metropolis State University. The first 2,000 stadium goers who are seated in the filming section will receive T-shirts designed by Snyder that sport Gotham City’s team colors of black and gold. Plays and crowd reactions will be filmed for about 20 minutes.
If you’re in the area, and you can manage to be one of those lucky 2,000 seated in the filming section, it sounds like a pretty guaranteed good time. Unfortunately, it remains unknown as to whether or not Superman or Batman will actually make an appearance at the game, but fans are sure to turn out in droves to find out for themselves.
Ernest Burnett, the college’s event coordinator, has said that feature films don’t usually use community colleges like ELAC as locations, but he believes that a school that can be accommodating will benefit from the partnership. For that reason, ELAC tries to be a film friendly school, and students are accustomed to seeing film crews work and staying out of their way.
The production could have chosen to film on a night when there was no game going on, but Burnett says they wanted to support the school by shooting at a real game. The film is scheduled to come to theaters on July 17, 2015 with Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
