Zayn and Taylor Swift Get Really Angsty-Passionate for New Music Video

Oh, it's off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack? That explains so much.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Taylor Swift on the new music front. Last year marked a departure from the “every other year” release schedule that came to define most of her career. (And as a San Francisco Giants fan, believe me, “every other year magic” is a hard thing to come by.)

But worry not: today, Swift and Zayn Malik—of One Direction fame, as if you didn’t know—just dropped a… really angsty new music video for “I Don’t Want to Live Forever” off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

Knowing that it’s from that film certainly explains a bit of the inspiration behind the sexy writhing around while brooding and being very dark and moody. It may also explain why they both look very disinterested and angsty, because man, did they even see the original movie? Oof.

Anyway, the video’s interesting enough, and I will say that it’s quite something, visually speaking. Like most musical ear worms, the song is basically designed to never really leave your head, which coincidentally, is exactly how most people feel about watching the original movie. No matter what you do or how much ear (or eye) bleach you use, you can’t unhear (or unsee) it.

So what do you think? Are you glad to see Swift back in a video and recording again? Are you just glad to see Zayn (or ZAYN, as it were)? Or nah?
