There’s a lot about 2017 that’s instilling feelings of shame in regular Americans. So much of what we love about this country seems to be directly threatened by the misogynistic, racist, xenophobic man a minority of voters chose to represent us.
And yet there have still been quite a few things that remind us what’s still at the core of the United States of America. Let’s not forget that just because a blowhard bigot is having his day in the sun.
Here are a few of the things that make me refuse to give up hope.
Every time Trump attacks the media
I suddenly understand the intense patriotism so many on the right feel when they erroneously think Democrats want to trample all over the Second Amendment. It’s how I feel when Trump shows an aggressive disdain for the First.
Reading about the record number of Democratic women running for office
Today, @emilyslist announced that 15,000+ women have reached out since Election Day about running for office! 7,000+ want to help them run.
