You might recognize Tim Hanley‘s name around here for how often his blog is linked to when Wonder Woman or the gender balance of creators at DC and Marvel comics comes up. We’re happy to make the announcement that he’s got a new book coming out, a history of the Amazon Princess that goes by the name Wonder Woman Unbound: The Curious History of the World’s Most Famous Heroine.
Unbound takes a close look at Diana, and her comics appearances, decade by decade, from the 1940s to today, in order to explain the “journey that lead to Wonder Woman’s iconic status.” Hanley told us this about it:
It’s an accessible journey through Wonder Woman’s history for casual fans of the character, but there are also some new revelations that will surprise even the most hardcore fans. Ultimately, it’s a celebration of Wonder Woman that embraces the many bizarre and contradictory facets of her past.
It seems like there’s always something new and interesting to learn about Wonder Woman (not that I’m complaining!). Wonder Woman Unbound is available for pre-order now at Amazon, and will be on sale in bookstores and online onĀ April 1, 2014. For more information, please visit the Chicago Review Press site.
