Toy Fair – two innocent words that simultaneously conjure up feelings of excitement and disappointment in a single moment. Excitement at all the wonderful new toys being announced; disappointment that you can’t take them home with you right away! This year’s fair was no exception – 2014 is going to be a great year for toys and collectibles. Take a look at just a small portion of what we saw at the big show this year. And by “small portion,” we mean, “97 photos.”
NECA, Funko and DC Collectibles dominated the fair, with reveals so exciting, I’m sure they hired extra security when they were left unattended. Tamashii Nations also had interesting additions – namely, a mid-Smooth Criminal Michael Jackson and some gorgeous SH Monster Arts Godzilla figures.
While most of the Toy Fair exclusives were already announced a few days earlier, nothing quite beats seeing them in person – especially those Funko ReAction figures and their amazing blister cards. A few more retro throwbacks were showcased at the fair – DC Collectibles revealed a Batman and Catwoman from The Animated Series and NECA displayed another one of their NES figures (Predator!). It’s apparent the retro trend will only increase in 2014, and I couldn’t be happier.
Other toys of note include DC Collectibles Zatanna Bombshell statue, the NECA Alien figures (with an Ellen Ripley on the way!), Kid Robot Marvel Labbits series two, Buffy Funko Pops!, and a heart-stopping Mal Maquette by QMX.
Toy collectors, prepare your wallets, 2014 is going to be an epic year.
