Or I could say Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Michelle Forbes, Prison Break’s Michelle Forbes, True Blood’s Michelle Forbes, Orphan Black’s Michelle Forbes… she’s Michelle f^*%ing Forbes. Respect.
It was announced on The Hunger Games‘s official Instagram account that Forbes would be playing one “Lt. Jackson” in the second part of Mockingjay, coming to theaters in November 2015. If you’re like me, who’s met just about every Mockingjay casting announcement with a resounding “Wait, who the hell is that?,” you’ll have no idea who Lt. Jackson is. Even the actors aren’t immune to it. So here’s your reminder: Forbes’ character is a soldier from District 13 who was part of Katniss’ team during the final attack on the Capitol. If memory serves she’s a cranky military type, so I’m just going to go ahead and pretend she’s an AU version of Admiral Cain, please and thank you.
Yell at things, Michelle Forbes. Yell at all the things.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you what other new-to-the-Games faces the two-part Mockingjay will be bringing to your eyeballs: Game of Thrones‘ Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie, not to mention Julianne Moore. Can Dormer and Christie kidnap Forbes away to Westeros, please? I really want her to play one of the Mormonts. Only Jorah’s been in the show so far, but in the books he has an aunt (Maege “The She-Bear” Mormont) and several female cousins who are all stone-cold badasses. Seriously. They ride into battle alongside House Stark’s other bannermen. Nobody knows who the father of Maege’s children are, but it doesn’t matter, because they take their mother’s last name anyway and screw anyone who tries to give ’em crap about it. Maege wields a spiked mace. None of the ages really match up for Forbes, but I don’t care. They changed Jeyne Westerling’s entire character; they can futz some things around here. Consider this the start of the campaign to make  Michelle Forbes play literally any lady Mormont.
