Okay, so maybe Ubisoft hasn’t actually embraced piracy in the literal sense, but they have embraced pirate-themed video games. After much speculation, and a number of prominent leaks, Ubisoft has confirmed that their latest and greatest Assassin’s Creed video game will be officially called Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Why they’ve decided to immediately move to the next installment of the franchise is unclear, but Ubisoft sure does like putting out a new version of this game each year.
There’s not a whole lot to go on just yet, considering Ubisoft’s only really announced the title of the game. They’ll supposedly be announcing a whole lot more this coming Monday, March 4th. If this seems like the company wasn’t exactly prepared to announce it just yet, that’s because they likely weren’t.
Rumors of a new title in the series being called Black Flag have been around for a while, but Ubisoft specifically confirmed the existence of a new title earlier this month during an earnings call. Then there’s the poster leak from earlier this week which seemed to confirm we’d be adventuring in the Caribbean.
Though Ubisoft’s been forced to show a few of their cards, they haven’t given away their whole hand just yet. Though it’s set in a different time period, and is apparently full of pirates, there’s not really a whole lot me know about the video game yet. We’ll all just have to wait for Monday. In the meantime, here’s the full image of the cover:
