Just a typical second day of September … but wait, the date! It’s 09/02/10, which means today is the day for profound meditations on every person in their twenties and thirties’ favorite nostalgia inducer, Beverly Hills, 90210. Maybe the kids today with their ‘edgy’ modern remake-spinoff have a special attachment to 90210 as well, but it’s just not the same.
90210 ran for a full ten years from 1990 to 2000 — no mean feat on ratings-crazed American broadcast TV. While it had plenty of the expected high school drama trappings, it was notable for tackling serious and taboo subject matter, especially for the time — Wikipedia cites date rape, alcoholism, domestic violence, gay rights, gay parenting, drug abuse, teenage suicide, AIDS, teenage pregnancy, bulimia and abortion.
