Bobak Ferdowsi is more than his haircut. He’s also an engineer, and clearly a great one because he helped get the Curiosity Rover to Mars. There aren’t enough young people pursuing engineering degrees (though plenty have mohawks) so Ferdowsi teamed up with StayWithIt.org to inspire people to stay in engineering programs. Go ahead. Get inspired.
The video makes a pretty clear case for why young people should pursue engineering. Besides getting to do things like land a robot on Mars, engineers are typically very well paid, and there will be plenty of jobs in the field in the future. That’s right, kids. Get that engineering degree so you can have stacks on stacks on stacks and treat yo’ self.
You could probably even engineer a way to convert all your money to coins and then swim through them like Scrooge McDuck, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Believe in yourself. You’re an engineer!
Besides, if engineering doesn’t work out you can always become a blogger who writes about engineers and makes childish cartoon references in articles where they don’t necessarily belong.
Oh god, what have I done with my life?
(via StayWithIt)
- Did everyone send Curiosity a postcard for its anniversary?
- Ferdowsi, among others, was at the last State of the Union
- Engineers built a robot and that robot does stand-up now
