It’s #FollowFriday again, but instead of dumping a bunch of Twitter handles together with a #FF tacked on the end, we’d rather focus on one person each week and really make a case for why you should follow them. This week it’s writer Jon Mooallem, or as he’s also known, @jmooallem.
Who He Is: Mooallem is the author of Wild Ones: A Sometimes Dismaying, Weirdly Reassuring Story About Looking at People Looking at Animals in America, a book that takes an interesting look at the relationship American humans have with American animals.
He also contributes to the New York Times Magazine, which is how we found him. His piece on the shocking number of power outages caused by squirrels this summer was a brilliant look at the squirrel menace, and a frightening reminder to how fragile our infrastructure actually is. Plus we got to make squirrely jokes.
Why You Should Follow: Mooallem has a clear knack for finding interesting animal stories. That’s not surprising considering the subject matter he writes about, but if you love a good animal story like we do, Mooallem’s Twitter feed is a great place to find them. It’s actually the best place to find them.
