It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for another episode of The Geekosystem Podcast. This week we recorded during an office birthday party we didn’t know was happening, talked about Batman and Doctor Who again, and Glen made a sleepy but impassioned plea for you to watch the World Chess Championship.

You can listen to the episode here.

Victoria started things off this week by discussing this tweet by producer Daniel Alter we saw through io9:

How seriously should we take this? Does flying drones make one a badass? Why does Glen have such a weird thing for Robin? All that and more in the episode!

Speaking of weird things about Glen, he really thinks you should be watching the 2013 FIDE World Chess Championship between Magnus Carlsen and Vishy Anand. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch the two people who are the best in the world at something do that thing against each other, and it’s a thing of beauty. Not a huge chess buff? The commentary team is doing a great job of making the coverage accessible to anyone.

For your Editors’ Picks this week, Victoria thinks you should give the game Faster Than Light a try.

Dan recommends the game And Yet It Moves:

And while Dan and Victoria are playing video games, Glen has been playing with the Beaglebone Black development platform. It’s great for hobbyists, or anyone with a much more complex electronics or software project on their hands. Or, you know, for getting a light to blink.

That’s the show for this week, and there’s still a few days left on the Kickstarter campaign for last week’s guest Gabriel Diani’s movie Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse. Be sure to check it out!
