The air-powered LEGO car looks like what our imagination saw when we played with our own LEGOs as kids. It’s also the coolest thing we’ve seen all day. Built from over half a million LEGO pieces, the car can reportedly reach speeds of 20-30 kph (12-18 mph), and its engine, which runs on air pressure, has 256 LEGO pistons.
The car, which they call the Super Awesome Micro Project, was made by entrepreneur Steve Sammartino and technology whiz Raul Oaida after a quick collection of donations from Twitter followers. They originally only asked for 20 backers, but the project received twice that many donations, and it shows. Seriously, look at that swanky gold trim.
The load bearing parts of the car and the tires had to be reinforced with non-LEGO parts, but the majority of the car is made from pure childlike wonder—erm, LEGOs. It’s made from LEGOs.
