Was your 2014 New Year’s Resolution “build a lightsaber”? If so, this infographic from electronics supplier Newark has you covered. Of course, it’s teaching you to build a lightsaber replica and not an actual lightsaber, but still. It’s an elegant infographic for a more civilized age.
With a few basic tools and pieces of hardware you can get to work on what seems like a pretty straightforward lightsaber design. If you really want to build your own, but don’t know where to start we think this is a good jumping off point. The finished product of these plans might not look perfect, but it will give you something to refine.
Not surprisingly, you can order any of the electronics you need from Newark. Break out the soldering iron and check it out.
The actual plans for this design come from Instructables user Nagle. If you prefer a step-by-step outline of how to build this, check out that page.
Of course hokey infographics and PVC weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. (Newark, please show us how to make Han’s blaster.)
(via Newark)
- No. MIT and Harvard did not build a lightsaber
- Han’s blaster just sold at auction for $200,000
- For $16,000 you can own an AT-ST
