Here’s a Bunch of New Art from the Little Nemo Comic Reboot

Hey, it turns out reboots are capable of not being "gritty." Who knew?

Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo in Slumberland comic strip started all the way back in 1905, and its unprecedented vision of dreams come to life left a huge impression and even spawned an animated movie almost a century later in 1989 and a great NES game (Little Nemo: The Dream Master) in 1990.

Now it’s coming back to comics with Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland on an unspecified date this spring, and the talented team behind it has given us an early look at a bunch of art on Twitter, which looks really great so far. Still, the reboot has a tough job living up to such an iconic vision, which is why it’s being helmed by the Eisner award-winning writer/artist of Age of Bronze, Eric Shanower, and the Eisner-nominated co-creator/artist of Locke and Key, Gabriel Rodriguez.

The visual style stays true to the original while still looking updated and fresh, so I’m really excited to see how the finished product comes out. Luckily for us, it’s no longer 1905, and Gabriel Rodriguez has been making great use of our crazy 21st century technology to show everyone early previews of the comic’s art over Twitter, which we’ve collected for your viewing pleasure.
