Lady Sif and Lorelei showed up on SHIELD last night to kick ass and take names. If you’re not as familiar with Lorelei as you’d like to be, we have some comic book recommendations for you.

Why don’t we start at the very beginning? Read:

Thor #337

Thor #337

Lorelei made her first appearance in Thor #337 in 1983 thanks to writer Walt Simonson. As they alluded to in last night’s episode of SHIELD, she was a recurring love interest for Thor often to the dismay of Sif. Simonson’s run on Thor lasted a few years and more than 40 issues, with Lorelei being a pretty significant player.

If you really want to get to know the character, then check out issues #337-#382, but if you don’t have that kind of time, be sure to at least read:

Thor #438-#441

Thor #438

In “Yes Men,” there was a quick mention of a time where Sif took down Lorelei before. I’m not 100% certain, but I think this is the story arc they’re referring to. In it, Lorelei embodies the Destroyer armor seen in the first Thor movie and it’s up to Sif and Balder to take her down.

Since we’ve already seen the Destroyer and Lorelei in the MCU now, I wouldn’t mind seeing this fight played out on screen, be it in an episode of SHIELD or somewhere in the movies.
